Training and Support for Professionals working with Carers in Surrey
At Action for Carers Surrey, we offer free training to help professionals recognise, support and refer unpaid carers with confidence.

This page is for anyone working with people in Surrey, including:
- health professionals
- social care staff
- education and school teams
- community and voluntary organisations
- employers and frontline staff
If you come into contact with adults, families or young people, you are likely to encounter carers – even if they don’t identify themselves as one.
For over 20 years, our training has given professionals a clearer understanding of the realities unpaid carers face, often supporting an elderly, disabled or unwell relative or friend alongside their own daily responsibilities.
Why carer awareness training matters
Although the Care Act 2014 strengthened the responsibilities of local authorities and health services, many carers are still not identified or supported.
Caring can have a significant impact on someone’s mental and physical wellbeing, finances and day-to-day life. Our training helps your organisation become more carer-aware, meet Care Act responsibilities, and feel confident in connecting carers to the right support across Surrey.
Quality of presentations high and well thought out workshops.
Training for Professionals:
We run two main courses for professionals.
- Because Carers Count runs regularly online and is open to all professionals in Surrey. You’ll gain practical knowledge, legal insight, and strategies for effective carer support.
- Carer Rights in Action runs online, again open to all professionals, and offers a more in depth look at carers’ need and rights, looking more closely and statutory obligations and legislation.
